The iPhone SE has been a hugely popular product for and it’s not hard to see why.

With prices starting from under £350, this device makes buying a new iPhone much more affordable.

However, the SE is long overdue an upgrade with Apple’s cut-price call maker not seeing a refresh in over two years.

There’s plenty of rumours that suggest an updated SE is on its way with one .

Along with the name, there have also been a number of leaks which could show an exciting new look is inbound.

Case maker Olixar recently revealed some renders which show a phone that features a stunning all-screen design similar to the iPhone X.

If true, this would mean the end of the Touch ID fingerprint scanner on the SE with Apple possibly bringing its Face ID technology to its budget range.

Face ID unlocks the device simply by glancing at it and was first introduced on the iPhone X late last year.

Like Apple’s new flagships, the SE could also be covered in glass which would allow it to be charged wirelessly

Other rumoured specs for the iPhone SE 2 include a waterproof build, A10 CPU with 2GB of RAM, 12MP rear camera and a 1,700 mAh battery.

So, the big question is, when will Apple actually reveal this new device?

There are conflicting reports about a launch date with some suggesting a big reveal will come at Apple’s WWDC developers conference next month.

WWDC gets underway from June 4 in California and despite this mainly being a software even, Apple has a history of showing off hardware as well.

Last year’s WWDC saw a number of devices revealed to the world including new iPads, MacBooks and the HomePod smart speaker.

Showing of the new SE at WWDC would make sense but a new report is now suggesting that fans may have to wait a little longer to see this new smartphone.

According to  Apple is yet to decide on a final design of the iPhone SE, which would clearly mean it won’t be revealed in two weeks time.

Mac Otakara says that a Chinese accessory manufacturer, which exhibited during the Japan IT Week Spring 2018 Mobile Expo, said that production has not begun for the model.

There’s no way to confirm this statement but, if true, it could be a busy September for Apple.

The US firm is already thought to be revealing three new iPhones in the autumn including a giant iPhone XL with may feature a 6.5-inch screen.

Now it seems there could be a fourth phone to add to that list if the latest SE rumour is correct.

Luckily, there’s not long until we find out more with WWDC just two weeks away.
