This Russian's collusion with an iPhone 7 proves that the best camera is the one you carry

The iPhone 7 is the gift that keeps on giving for Apple. Discounted down to $499 after the iPhone 8 launch, the previous iPhone model offers plenty of bang for the buck, such as a metal body, and a camera that is pretty great for its now upper midrange class. It should come to no surprise then, that the iPhone 7 has kept unusually high share in new iPhone sales, for the sake of the iPhone 8, and even iPhone X shipments.

One needs to look no further than the amazing "shot on iPhone" account of one Russian photog to understand why the 7 sells as much as it does when Apple outed not two, but three new iPhones last year. Collusion, shmollusion... the endless Insta stream of perfectly timed snaps depicting the peculiarities of Russian provincial living can serve at least two purposes. First, they acquaint us with Russian humans beyond the current tit-for-tat geopolitical nightmare, and, second, the pictures confirm for the umpteeenth time that it's not how big or expensive your camera is, it's how you use it.

They say that the best camera is the one you always carry with you, and the rest is an eye for the detail, and for the everyday miracle happening around you. This "shot on iPhone" account of provincial Russia certainly comes to back those notions up. The snaps aren't always with the perfect photographic quality that a DSLR would bring, yet they come to live nonetheless. Take a look at some of the photos, and tell us what you think.
