Virgin Mobile claims (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 launching Monday
According to a recent internal memo shared with Virgin Mobile employees, Apple could launch new limited edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models as soon as tomorrow, with the carrier reporting the new devices will be indexed on inventory systems on Monday.
The memo, obtained by MacRumors, fails to mention a (PRODUCT)RED edition iPhone X, so it’s possible Apple could be limiting the new color exclusively to the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The leak suggest the new devices won’t be available immediately, meaning a pre-order system may be put in place following tomorrows reveal.
If the report proves to be truthful Apple will most likely share a press release to promote the launch of the new handset upon Apple.com. It’s unknown if the devices will be available exclusively through carriers and if the new devices will be sold worldwide.
Last year Apple launched a limited edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 that was later discontinued in September from both Apple.com and Apple retail locations.
The Apple Post shared renderings of a rumored ‘Blush Gold’ iPhone last month. – Reports of a ‘Copper Gold’ iPhone X came in thick and fast in the run-up to the launch of the handset back in September, but those claims never materialised. One suggestion was that similar to the delayed launch of the white iPhone 4 in 2010, Apple wasn’t able to find the perfect shade of gold in time to release the handset.
