Apple CEO Tim Cook says he wouldn’t be in the situation Mark Zuckerberg is in

.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said Wednesday in an interview set to air April 6 that the tech giant would not find itself in the same situation as Facebook and its CEO Mark Zuckerberg.

When asked what he would do if he were in Zuckerberg’s situation, Cook replied, “What would I do? I wouldn’t be in this situation.”

Cook said if his company wanted, it could treat customers like a product and monetize from it, but the tech company chooses not to do so.

“We’re not going to traffic in your personal life,” Cook said. “Privacy to us is a human right, a civil liberty.”

The CEO of Apple made his comments following a massive scandal involving research company Cambridge Analytica, which obtained 50 million users’ personal information through Facebook’s “login” feature.

However, Cook maintained that “this is not something that we just started last week when we saw something happening. We’ve been doing this for years.”
