Microsoft has released cumulative update KB4092077 for systems running the Windows 10 Creators Update (version 1703) released in the spring of 2017.

The first thing you’ll notice after installing update KB4092077 is that it bumps Windows 10 version to 15063.936. To verify your system version, click Start and type winver.

According to the official changelog published by Microsoft on the KB page, this update introduces just a single change for the Creators Update, in anticipation of a bigger release next week when the company ships Patch Tuesday updates.

“Addresses issue where, after installing this update, some localized devices have incorrect strings or unusual behavior in different areas of the user interface (UI) that make the UI unusable.”

In plain English, this update is supposed to fix issues caused after installing Windows 10 Creators Update, and which at first glance led to the computer freezing and making the UI not responding.

Just one known issue

To download KB4092077 you can check for updates in Windows Update (Settings > Update & security > Windows Update > Check for updates) or go to Microsoft’s Update Catalog. You can also download Windows 10 cumulative update KB4092077 from Softpedia.

At this point, there’s just a single known issue in this cumulative update, and it’s the same one that Microsoft announced when it released the January updates. Systems running antivirus solutions that aren’t considered to be compatible and which do not set a special registry key won’t receive the cumulative update, according to a new policy introduced by Microsoft and which applies to all future patches.

A bigger set of updates is scheduled to go live next week as part of the monthly Patch Tuesday rollout. The focus, however, will be on security fixes, but as it happens every month, Windows 10 cumulative updates will also include other general fixes and improvements for the operating system. All versions of Windows 10 released so far will be patched.
