ASRock Releases Ryzen 2000 Series Zen+ BIOS Updates For Its AM4 Motherboards

Around this time last month, AMD got a jump on the hectic craziness surrounding the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) by making a series of product announcements, including a second generation Ryzen lineup based on its Zen+ architecture, a tweaked version of Zen. In preparation for these upcoming Ryzen 2000 series desktop chips, ASRock has released BIOS updates for a bunch of its AM4 motherboard.

This has been the promise from the get-go, that AMD would support future processor launches on its AM4 platform rather than requiring that users buy a new motherboard. Things don't always work out as planned, and with Intel launching a new Z370 chipset that is required for Coffee Lake, we have been taking a wait-and-see approach to AMD and its Ryzen roadmap. Well, we waited and now we are seeing BIOS updates that add support for the new chips.

ASRock has new BIOS updates available for more than a dozen of its AM4 motherboard spanning AMD's X370, B350, and A320 chipsets. They include the X370 Killer SLI/ac, X370 Killer SLI, Fatal1ty X370 Gaming K4, Fatal1ty X370 Gaming X, Fatal1ty X370 Gaming-ITX/ac, AB 350 Pro 4, AB350M Pro 4, AB 350M, Fatal1ty AB 350 Gaming K4, Fatal1ty AB 350 Gaming-ITX/ac, AB350M-HDV, A320M Pro 4, A320M-DGS, A320M-HDV, and A320M.

In addition to the above, the ASRock is working on BIOS updates for its X370 Taichi and Fatal1ty X370 Professional Gaming motherboards, both of which it expects to make available sometime today.

As for the new Ryzen processors, AMD said they will be out in April, so users have plenty of time to prep their PCs. They will bring with them higher frequencies and performance optimizations. You can also expect a rash of new motherboards based on AMD's X470 chipset, though with BIOS updates rolling out to current generation socket AM4 motherboards, users will not be required to pick up a new board.
