Music journalist Alex Gale is the new head of editorial for Apple Music, according to a new report. Gale, who has previously worked for the likes of Billboard, XXL and Vibe, will be responsible for all written content on Apple’s music platforms.

Apple Music has been soaring since making its debut in June 2015. Thanks to high-profile exclusives and the popularity of Apple devices, it has amassed a whopping 36 million paying subscribers in less than three years.

Its rapid growth, which currently stands at 5 percent every month, means the service is currently on track to overtake Spotify in the United States. Apple hopes to maintain that by continually improving its service — and it has recruited Gale to help.

Based out of Los Angeles, Gale started his new role this week, Variety reports. He reports to Jen Robbins, director of project management and editorial, and leads the team that provides written content for Apple Music, iTunes, and Beats 1.

Written content includes things like interviews with artists, Apple Music features, playlist and video descriptions, and more.
