Next Generation AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs Release Date, Latest News, 400 Series AM4 Motherboards

Next generation AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs will be more efficient as compared to what we currently have on the market. Learn more here.

AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs are going to be coming out this year and we are expecting to see some pretty great performance from these chips keeping in mind how disrupting AMD Ryzen was in the market, there are some high hopes for AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs. Here we are going to talk about AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs release date and the new all the latest news that we have so far.

After the release of the Zen architecture, AMD released the first generation of AMD Ryzen CPUs and while the CPUs were great AMD needs to keep this going in order to hit Intel where it hurts. AMD has been able to do some damage in 2017 and if the company can keep the momentum going with AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs then I do not see why not AMD could pull it off again.

AMD introduced 8 cores and 16 threads into the CPU market which made Intel panic to such an extent that the company started delivering products to the market quicker than expected. The following is all that we know about AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs so far.

AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs: Everything That We Know So Far

There have been a couple of leaks and reports regarding AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs and some related products from AMD. We also got a few insights regarding what might be coming out this year from AMD’s James Prior. AMD CPU sales have been going pretty great and with the upcoming AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs things should get even better.

AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge Release Date

Update: AMD Ryzen 2 will be coming out in April according to the official AMD announcement. The chips will be based on the 12nm process.

This is an unannounced product so we have no news regarding an official release date but looking at the roadmaps that we have and talking to some industry insiders we can narrow down the window from early 2018 to March 2018. Multiple sources and reports are claiming that AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs will be coming out in March 2018.

As this cannot be confirmed at this point in time to take this information with a grain of salt as the official release date could turn out to be different and we will find out in the next could of weeks. If these chips are indeed hitting the shelves in March then you can expect to see an unveil in February which is another thing that insiders have mentioned.

AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge Release Accompanied By 2 New Motherboards

With the release of AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs, we will also be getting two new motherboards. These motherboards will namely be X470 and the mid-range B450. TGhe X470 will be more expensive and will offer additional features are compared to the B450 motherboards but keep in mind that that AM4 socket will here till 2020 so it is more than likely that these motherboards will be backward compatible.

There will also be an entry-level A420 motherboard that you can check out once it comes out. These upcoming motherboards will apparently support APUs as well which should be interesting to see on desktops. Stay tuned to SegmentNext for more information regarding motherboards that support AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs.

AMD AM4 Socket Compatibility Concern

AMD has said it time and time again that AMD AM4 socket is here to stay, at least until 2020. Having that said you need not worry about the upcoming CPUs not working with your motherboards. While the new motherboards might introduce some new feature, they will be minor improvements.

Update: The AM4 interface is unchanged and this means that the new motherboards will support the first generation AMD Ryzen CPUs as well as AMD APUs that are coming out next month. The current 300 series motherboard will just need a BIOS update in order to work with the upcoming APUs and CPUs. You can check out more information here.

AMD will only push to another socket with the introduction of PCIe 4.0 of DDR5 RAM. All that is pretty far away from now and it will be 2020 by the time these features come into the mainstream. For more information regarding PC hardware coming out this year click here.

Intel Bringing The A Game

Now that 8 cores and 16 threads are an option on the AMD side of things, we are getting word from sources and leaks that Intel 9th generation CPUs will feature 8 cores and 16 threads. While Intel Coffee Lake CPUs already feature up to 6 cores and 12 threads, AMD still offers more. Keeping that in mind it just makes sense that Intel will also introduce 8 cores and 16 threads.

We also know that Intel is having a tough time shrinking the die size which could prove to be a major setback. Intel Ice lake has been delayed a couple of times and will be coming out later this year if things go as planned. Having that said you can check out the 9th generation CPUs that are coming out here.

Intel will also be introducing new Intel Coffee Lake chips that will feature AMD graphics. These chips might have Vega cores. These should be better than the chips with integrated graphics and should be great for mobile use. Having that said we are still waiting to see how well these chips perform and till then we are withholding judgments regarding the chips.

You can check out more information regarding the Intel Core i7 8809G processor here. The chips come with the AMD graphics as mentioned and feature 4 cores and 8 threads.

Talking about the entry-level chips, Intel Whiskey Lake CPUs have been revealed and they feature double the cores as compared to the previous versions. These chips will be coming out later in the second half of 2018. You can also check out other PC hardware products that we are looking forward to in 2018 here.

There is plenty that AMD has up its sleeve for 2018 and there is plenty that Intel can do about it so it will be interesting to see what both companies are going to do moving forward. Competition is always great and we have already seen the effects of that competition in 2017 but we will be getting much more this year as compared to the previous one. The 9th generation Intel CPUs should stack up well against AMD Ryzen 2 Pinnacle Ridge CPUs.

AMD Ryzen 2 2600 (Ryzen 5 2600) Spotted

The Ryzen 5 2600 has been spotted and while this seems like an engineering sample the chip will come with 6 cores and 12 threads. The CPU will have a base clock of 3.4 GHz and will be able to boost to 3.8 GHz. This might not seem like much but it is possible that the final product will have higher clock speeds so don’t take this information to heart just yet.
