Why More and More Android Users Want an iPhone

Our research suggests there are three main reasons for Android users to seriously consider moving to iPhone.

Switching from Android to iPhone

At Creative Strategies, we recently conducted a survey that showed about 30 percent of Android users are thinking of switching to an iPhone.

Opinions This comes at a time when Samsung and Google have stellar smartphones that are equal to and in some ways, better than Apple's newest iPhones. But it seems some Android users still wonder if the grass is greener in Cupertino.

Our research suggests there are three main reasons for Android users to seriously consider moving to iPhone.

The open-sourced nature of Android means there are dozens of different versions of the OS out there. Only recently did Google start updating its current versions on a more regular basis. But there is still the sense that Android is less secure than iOS.

Samsung appears to have done the best job addressing this with Knox, which has helped it gain traction in the enterprise. But when we look at switchers, they say Apple appears to have tighter control over its apps and ecosystem than Google does with Android. To them, Apple provides a digital "safe harbor" for their most sensitive information.

Switchers also like Apple's continuity system, which syncs your Apple passwords, settings, pictures, and video across Apple devices. Yes, Android has similar features, but in my experience, they don't work as well as those within the Apple ecosystem.

Another big differentiator is Apple's customer service and support. I recently had a serious issue with a high-end Android smartphone, and trying to get answers from Google or even vendor support was like pulling teeth. With Apple, those in proximity to an Apple Store can have a Genius Bar appointment with a few clicks.

As we go into this holiday season, our research suggests Apple will continue to draw strong interest from Android users, and Apple is ready and willing to welcome them into the iOS ecosystem.
