While at Microsoft's Ignite 2017 conference, the company released Windows 10 for PCs build 16299 to the Fast ring. It's the first build since 16296 was released four days ago.
As you can probably imagine, there are no new front-facing features, as the firm is gearing up for the public release of the Fall Creators Update on October 17. Instead, this build focuses on fixes and improvements. Here's the list:
We fixed an issue some Insiders were experiencing where after upgrading to recent flights their optical drive wouldn’t be listed under This PC.
We fixed an issue where Microsoft Edge might crash when scrolling embedded PDFs.
We fixed an issue resulting in some Insiders seeing 0x80070005 when trying to upgrade to the last few flights.
We fixed an issue where using the Automatic File Download notification to block an app from downloading files wasn’t working for UWP apps.
We fixed an issue resulting in Windows Defender potentially downloading files selected to be online-only after using the file picker dialog and viewing their thumbnails.
It still doesn't seem like this is the RTM build, as the team is still warning of more frequent builds until it's released. Once it's ready though, you'll see the RTM build get moved to the Slow ring, and then the Release Preview ring before it goes to Production.
To grab today's build, head over to Settings -> Update & security -> Windows Update -> Check for updates. If you're not on the Fast ring yet, go to the Windows Insider Program tab.
