Apple’s Next Bezelless Flagship Handset Reportedly To Be Called iPhone X, Pronounced iPhone 10
A Dutch-language website is claiming that Apple's next flagship smartphone will be called iPhone X, pronounced iPhone 10, and not iPhone 8 as previously rumored. That is not to say there will not be an iPhone 8 model—there will be, it just will not be the flagship version that has been the subject of numerous leaks and rumors over the past several months. Confused yet?
Whereas Apple has gotten in the habit of releasing model numbers followed by "s" variants in between numerical upgrades—iPhone 6, iPhone 6s, iPhone 7—the next iPhone launch is special because it will represents the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone family. Hence why it is at least feasible that Apple would launch an iPhone X model even though it means a departure from Apple's model progression.
Bear in mind that none of this is official information from Apple. That said, the same website claiming to have inside information on the iPhone X was previously correct about the 10.5-inch iPad Pro. In this case, the same person who tipped the existence of the 10.5-inch iPad Pro prior to its launch is the same one that is now saying Apple will call its next flagship handset iPhone X. The source works for a global telecommunications group and apparently attended a meeting Apple recently held with its wireless partners.
In any event, the iPhone X (or whatever it ends up being called) is rumored to sport a near bezel-less design. If early leaks prove true, it will also sport a 5.8-inch organic light emitting diode (OLED) display powered by a custom A11 system-on-chip (SoC) and 3GB RAM. There has also been chatter of Apple bumping storage capacities to 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB.
