We know that Apple is getting pretty serious about TV and getting their own shows out there. In fact the company has so far launched a few of their own, such as Planet of the Apps and Carpool Karaoke, both of which are of the reality show-type of program. However it looks like Apple is interested in getting into drama next.

In a report from the Financial Times (paywall; via 9to5Mac), it seems that Apple has their eyes set on a new TV drama series that will be starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. Apparently Apple isn’t alone in trying to court this new drama as Netflix is reportedly interested in having the show on their platform as well.

Having exclusives is definitely a good way to draw users towards their services, like how Netflix has successfully done that with shows like Stranger Things, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, and the various Marvel TV series that has been launched so far. Whether or not Apple will be successful remains to be seen, although we reckon Apple probably needs a hit series given that their initial launches haven’t exactly been very well-received.

There’s no telling if and when we will know for sure when the series will be launched, so we’ll just have to wait and see. Perhaps more details could be unveiled on the 12th of September which is when Apple is expected to unveil the new iPhones and possibly a new 4K Apple TV.
