iOS 11 was announced at the earlier in the year with this major update bringing a host of new features to the iPhone and iPad.

The all-new operating system includes huge improvements with photography features, Siri and Apple Pay all receiving a major refresh.

Maps also gets improved and a new customisable Control Centre is also included in this blockbuster update.

iPad owners are set for the biggest changes as iOS 11 brings a new dock which can be filled with your most recent and favourite apps, plus iOS 11 helps improve multitasking on this popular tablet.

Apple has already released a which allows iPhone and iPad owners to test the new iOS 11 features before it’s released to the masses.

However, the US technology firm advises that users should only download the test software if they own a secondary iPhone/iPad as it may contain bugs that can affect how devices operate.

So, if you don’t fancy trying the beta operating system, when will the official version if iOS 11 become available?

Currently, the only official word from Apple is that iOS 11 will launch in the Autumn and it's unlikely that the US technology firm will reveal anything more until it has launched its latest update to the iPhone.

The new iPhone 8 could arrive as early as next month and, once this major new device has been revealed, a release date for iOS 11 should then be made public.

Using past launches we are speculating that Apple will unveil its iPhone 8 on either September 6 or September 13.

This would mean that iOS 11 should be available on, or, before September 20.

It’s worth noting that this latest operating system isn’t compatible with all iPhone and iPad models and if you own an older device, such as the iPhone 5c, you’;ll have to stick with iOS 10.
