Samsung sends out invitations for the Galaxy Note8 launch on August 23

It's that time of the year again. Samsung today began sending out invitations for its next Galaxy Unpacked event, where the company will be announcing the Galaxy Note8. The event will be held in New York City on August 23, as was previously rumored.

The new handset will have a lot to live up to, as last year's Galaxy Note7 can only be described as a disaster. After it was found that the phone spontaneously caught on fire, Samsung tried recalling the device, but even the replacement devices exploded.

The firm discontinued the handset in October, but brought it back last month as the Galaxy Note Fan Edition.

In short, you can bet that Samsung is going the extra mile to be sure that the Galaxy Note8 will be a safe device to use.

This year's Galaxy Note is expected to arrive this September, with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6GB RAM, and dual 12MP cameras. Naturally, you can expect to hear Samsung talk about some new features for the S Pen, as that's the Note's flagship feature.
