Microsoft has released Windows 10 build 16241 for insiders in the Fast ring, ahead of the last Bug Bash kickoff this Friday and of the public launch of the Creators Updates in September.

Build 16241 is once again full of new goodies, and it all starts with Windows Shell improvements. Users are now getting options to recover their pins or passwords from the lock screen, a feature that we told you about earlier this week and which uses a very intuitive wizard to guide you through the whole thing.

Additionally, Microsoft is refining Acrylic Material with softer noise, most likely in anticipation of other visual improvements expected to be introduced as part of Fluent Design later this year.

The Task Manager has also been refined with more improvements to the GPU section of the Performance tab, like the default multi-engine view, the GPU name shown on the left-hand side of the tab, total GPU memory text counter, and DirectX version that displays the highest supported DX feature level.

Delivery Optimization

Microsoft has also introduced a bunch of Delivery Optimization improvements, with a new Settings screen that lets you configure various download and upload options.

“Delivery Optimization continuously measures your available bandwidth during a download and dynamically adjusts the amount of bandwidth used in background downloads to ensure these downloads won’t interrupt your use of your device.

However, Delivery Optimization may not be aware of download activity that takes place on other devices in your household. If you have limited connectivity and would like to minimize the impact you can now use the Download settings to throttle your download speed for background downloads,” Microsoft explains.

There are also several smaller changes and improvements, as well as some known bugs, and you can check them out in full in the box after the jump.

This build is the last one ahead of the start of the Bug Bash this week, which represents the last bug hunting program launched by Microsoft before the debut of the Fall Creators Update.
