Intel Corporation has finally unveiled its Core X-Series launch schedule announcing that the series will roll out in three phases. Amid the hype and high expectation for its Core I9-7980XE which has already amazed thousands of computing critics and enthusiasts, the company sees a low turnout for the powerful processor.
Intel’s Core i9-7980XE Juggernaut promises an unbeatable processing power from the 18-core/36-thread flagship alongside its lower core siblings, 14 and 16. Paying $111.11 per core, the said flagship’s retail price skyrockets to $1999 MSRP and slated for release in October 2017.
Limited units
According to WCCF Tech, due to this reason, the higher tier processors will be available in much lower volumes compared to 4, 6, 8, 10, and 12 core variants. Intel noted that most buyers in the consumer or even prosumer market do not spend that kind of money on processors.
However, the Juggernaut is positive that the Core i9 flagship will eventually attract enough potential customers which are the star of this lineup. Moreover, the growing content creator community will be much invested to Core i9-7980XE Juggernaut because it has the maximum capacity of rendering performance.
The unbeatable features
But knowing Intel, their Core i9 flagship would not cost so much without valid reason.
As early as now, the 18 cores and 36 threads processor has already been touted as a token to gaming overkill.
This monster processor boasts Intel’s new Turbo Boost Max 3.0 technology that can power up boost up to 4.5 GHz. On the other hand, the base clock remains unknown at the moment. The CPU also features an L2 Cache of 18 MB coupled with the 24.75 MB L3 cache.
The Quad channel DDR4 is up to 2666 MHz.
In addition, the processor features a TDP of just 165W and will be housed on the LGA 2066 socket similar with the rest of the lineup.
Addressing schedule rumors
The announcement of Core-X series release date lineup is Intel’s way of killing off major spoilers that may have a certain effect when the processors hit the market.
As per the schedule, the company will kick-off the pre-orders for the Kaby Lake-X and Skylake-X 4, 6, 8, and 10 core processors on June 19. The products will ship to consumers starting June 26.
Meanwhile, the 12 core tier Core i9-7920X is slated to release in August 2017 at $1199 price for the US release. This model will be the most compatible tier for all X299 motherboards which has already launched earlier this June.
