Microsoft's new Surface Pen is the "fastest digital pen on the planet"

Microsoft held an event in Shanghai, China today where it announced the all-new Surface Pro, and that the Surface Studio and Surface Laptop are coming to the country. But among the news is an all-new Surface Pen, which Surface chief Panos Panay said is the "fastest digital pen on the planet".

Still using Microsoft's N-Trig technology, there are now 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and just 21ms of latency when used with the new Surface Pro. There's also tilt sensitivity, which should sway some Wacom users.

As you can see from the image above, the new Surface Pen comes in new colors, which match the Surface Laptop and the new Signature Type Covers. The colors include black, Cobalt Blue, Platinum, and Burgundy.

Unfortunately, for the first time, the Pen isn't bundled with the Surface Pro, so you'll need to purchase it separately for $99. The price has been increased as well, as the previous Surface Pen can still be purchased for $59.99. Pre-orders aren't live just yet, but when they are, you'll be able to buy one here.
