2017-era Apple doesn’t brag about adoption figures in the same way the company used to under Steve Jobs. But at this week’s annual National Association of Broadcasters conference it made an exception.
Specifically, Apple revealed that it now has 2 million users of its Final Cut Pro X video-editing software, five years after launching the tenth version of the program.
“It’s a very great pleasure for all of us at Apple today to be able to announce that we’ve now reached 2 million ‘seats,'” Apple’s representative said at the event.
While they don’t provide a detailed breakdown of the adoption figures, Apple’s rep added that it is taken considerably less time for Apple to jump for 1 million to 2 million users than it did for the company to reach its first million adopters.
The National Association of Broadcasters exposition has long been used to make announcements related to Final Cut Pro. Way back when it was still in alpha mode in 1998, Final Cut Pro was shown off in a private room demonstrations at the event. Since then, Apple has frequently used the event to announce new versions of the software.
The 2 million users figure may not sound impressive when you consider that Apple has sold its billionth iPhone. However, when you consider that initial reactions to the Final Cut Pro X update were incredibly harsh, but Apple has since turned around, it’s something the company is rightly proud of.
