Apple Begins Notifying WWDC 2017 Scholarship Winners

Apple has begun notifying Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2017) scholarship applicants of their award status for the conference scheduled for June. Scholarship winners receive free access to the conference, a $1,599 value.

9to5Mac:

This year Apple’s application process included a stronger emphasis on using Apple’s Swift Playgrounds app rather than supplying a finished app. Apple has also expanded the scholarship program to cover both the cost of entry for everyone and travel accommodations for some as well as lodging for the first time.

Apple is also providing scholarship winners with free lodging this year. The winners will be staying at the San Jose State University Dorms, which are an approximate 15 minute walk from the conferences venue, McEnery Convention Center, located near Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino.

WWDC is making a return to San Jose for the first time since 2002. The conference made the move to San Francisco in 2003.

The winning applicants must respond to Apple by April 28 to accept their WWDC scholarship, so be sure to double-check your inbox if you have applied. (You will receive an email, even if you did not win a scholarship.)

WWDC 2017 takes place June 5-9, at the McEnery Convention Center. Apple is expected to debut iOS 11, macOS 10.13, tvOS 11, and watchOS 4 at the event.
