Intel may be releasing previews of models under its new Kaby Lake X architecture in response to the recent reveal of AMD's new Ryzen models. According to the Intel Kaby Lake X leak, the Kaby Lake X products will be the first chips available for Intel's X299 chipset for motherboard platforms.

Although Intel fans can expect these new chips in the market soon, not a lot of details have been revealed about them. However, it appears SiSoftware has revealed specifications for the new Kaby Lake X line.

The Kaby Lake X chips will be placed in ASRock X299 Professional Gaming i7 motherboards. This allows the Kaby Lake X to utilise the X299 chipset, which helps it be a direct competitor with the new Ryzen chips.

The Intel Kaby Lake X leak supports rumours on the Kaby Lake X being direct competition of AMD's newer Ryzen products. The initial rumour has come from Intel's Q4 2016 earnings call in Jan. 26.

Intel CEO Brian Krzanich said Intel's product roadmap is "the best ever it's been." This pertains to Intel's strategy that involves retaining Kaby Lake's quad-core technology.

"We’re always focused on really, our own product roadmap and making sure that we have the highest performance product," he said. WCCFTech said this is an indication that Intel expects the 4-core Kaby Lake X to directly compete with AMD's 8-core variants.

The chip is based on the latest 14nm + process node. This improves Intel's existing 14nm FinFET technology.

According to SiSoft's Intel Kaby Lake X leak, the chip's clock speeds appear to reach 4GHz base. This appears to directly compete with the recent Ryzen 5 1600, which has a base clock speed of 3.19GHz.

The Kaby Lake X products may be released alongside its sister the Skylake X. The latter features stronger specifications, which are rumoured to exceed the performance of Intel's current Broadwell E chips.

According to Videocardz, the new Skylake X and Kaby Lake X CPU series may release sometime later in 2017. Rumours also point towards a reveal at Gamescom 2017, which will take place in Germany from Aug. 22 to 26.

The products to make the reveal may include Kaby Lake X's 4-core, 6-core, 8-core, and 10-core variants. The 6, 8 and 10-core variations will be based on the more powerful Skylake architecture. Meanwhile, the 4-core model will be based on the Kaby Lake architecture. Regardless of these variants, all chips are expected to be under the Core i7-7000 series of Intel processors.

Unfortunately, Intel has not made an official comment about the Intel Kaby Lake X leak. There is no official statement on the Kaby Lake X products, including their release date and prices.
