It’s a big year for the iPhone as this revolutionary device has just celebrated its 10th birthday.

The very first smartphone from Apple was unveiled by Steve Jobs in January 2007 and this big anniversary could mean the US technology firm is planning some major changes.

Apple is expected to pull-out all the stops for its next generation phone, which looks likely to be unveiled in September.

The , which may actually be called the iPhone X, is rumoured to be arriving with a stunning dual-curved OLED display, all-glass design, improved dual-cameras, and no physical Home Button – a first for the device.

During the company’s quarterly earnings call this week, Mr Cook fuelled speculation about Apple’s product roadmap for the next year.

“I think the smartphone is still in the early innings of the game,” the 56-year-old Apple CEO told investors during the earnings call.

“I think there’s lots more to do. Every year, I think it becomes more important to people’s lives, there’s more things people are doing with it.”

Now a stunning concept has appeared on the web giving fans a glimpse of exactly how this new smartphone could look.

Designer Gabor Balough has produced a set images that show just what Apple could be planning.

With a display that covers the entire front of the phone users would get more space for apps and notifications.

Then there’s also the idea of augmented reality.

Apple is thought to be planning something big with this technology and Gabor’s renders show how the camera and Siri could be used to help get directions and discover what’s around you.

A simple question such as, “Hey Siri, what’s that tower?", when the camera is pointed towards a landmark could reveal the answer.

Gabor is keen to point out that these pictures are simply a concept and may never appear on the real iPhone 8.

But with rumours suggesting a new design with a curved display and home button embedded under the screen, he might not be too far away from how it’s really going to look.

Although the iPhone 8 clearly appears to be something special it may come with an expensive problem.

Last month, a source told Fast Company the Apple iPhone 8 would ship with an eye-watering $1,000 price tag for the entry-level model, that's about £802 converted.

That price point would not only make it the most expensive iPhone to date – it would also make the iPhone 8 much more expensive than its Samsung Galaxy S8 rival.

If recent leaked pricing is correct, and the Samsung Galaxy S8 starts at £690 – it will be almost £110 cheaper than the entry-level iPhone 8.

And with a very similar feature-set and industrial design, it remains to be seen whether customers are happy to cough-up the extra for Apple's iOS operating system and hardware design.
