It was only a matter of time before The Elder Scrolls got its own collectible card game, especially given the success of games like Hearthstone and Gwent. The Elder Scrolls: Legends is that CCG, pulling lore from Bethesda's famed RPG series in this new portable competitive game. Legends is now out on iPad worldwide, with an Android version to follow in the future.

The game features both a single-player story mode and competitive multiplayer. Battle is lane-based, with players duking it out with various cards they collect (or purchase, of course). You can call on the help of monsters and heroes from Elder Scrolls fame to deal damage, while item cards will provide helpful buffs. Players can upgrade cards they already own in lieu of purchasing new packs if they so choose. It looks like competitive players will want to employ a mix of the two.

If you somehow manage to tire of the base game by April 5, Bethesda is also rolling out a new content pack -- The Fall of the Dark Brotherood -- which introduces 40 new cards and an original story.
