The popular 14-inch Razer Blade gaming laptop just got a neat refresh and it's definitely exciting, rocking Intel's Kaby Lake, 4K resolution and more.

The latest Razer Blade is now the company's first gaming laptop to feature an (optional) 4K UHD display and it also packs the new Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU, which allows it to achieve a slightly higher speed without taking a toll on power consumption.

Despite the more powerful internals, the Razer Blade remains just as thin and light as the previous model, measuring 0.7 inches in thickness and tipping the scale at 4.3 pounds, thanks to its sleek unibody aluminum chassis.

"The result is a laptop with a perfect balance of power, mobility and durability with the characteristically elegant Razer Blade profile," Razer touts.

2017 Razer Blade Specs

The updated 14-inch Razer Blade laptop for gamers packs Intel's latest Kaby Lake processor, Nvidia GTX 1060 graphics, 6 GB of DDR5 VRAM and a minimum 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. Other specs include up to 1 TB of SSD storage, Thunderbolt 3 and the iconic Razer Chroma keyboard.

The 2.8 GHz Kaby Lake quad-core processor will not deliver a whopping upgrade over the previous sixth-generation processor, but it does add a nice touch and ensures gamers that they have the latest tech on board. The faster memory plays out well too.

When it comes to the display, Razer offered an optional matte 1080p version with its last 14-inch Blade model, and now it's offering a QHD option as an alternative to the high-resolution 3,200 x 1,800 pixel touchscreen. Intel says that its new generation Kaby Lake chips are particularly great with 4K video.

On the downside, the new Razer Blade laptop will not offer any great improvements over the previous model in the battery department. This might make some gamers think twice about choosing the 4K model or not, as 4K will fair great with GPU rendering but it will also take a heavier toll on battery life.

"Work, play and create with ease and enjoy smooth, high definition 4K content like never before," says Razer. "With the Razer Blade's thin and light design, you'd never guess it holds all that power. Only with Intel Inside."

The Dell XPS 15 will also offer a 4K display option and Kaby Lake processors, but with weaker NVIDIA graphics compared to the new Razer Blade.

2017 Razer Blade Price And Availability

As expected, the updated 14-inch Razer Blade gaming laptop doesn't come cheap. The standard full HD variant is now available for purchase in the United States, the UK, France, Canada, and Germany through Razer's website, sporting a starting price of $1,899. Other markets will get it in March. The 4K model, meanwhile, will not hit the scene until April at the earliest and will likely cost significantly more, albeit no pricing details are available yet. Razer will likely offer more details closer to launch.
