Incipio Ox Case for iPhone 7 includes built-in headphone jack, Lightning port

Prolific iPhone case producer Incipio has announced the Ox Case, an accessory for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus that marks the return of a headphone jack — one that can be used while still allowing the iPhone to charge at the same time.

The Incipio Ox Case's built-in headphone socket lets users connect wired audio devices to the iPhone 7, without using a separate adapter. There is also another externally accessible Lightning port, which can be used for charging and data, and can be used simultaneously with the audio jack.

Constructed from a "Plextonium" polycarbonate, the Ox Case is claimed to have a shock-absorbent exterior to help prevent damage from drops, while also using a snap-on design for quickly inserting or removing the iPhone from the case.

On display at CES, Incipio is planning to ship the Ox Case in the first quarter for $60, in a choice of black, forest, and purple color options.

The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus ships with a pair of Lightning-connected EarPods, but also a legacy headphone adapter in the box. According to Apple, the decision to remove the headphone jack was "courageous" and allowed the company to include more features in the iPhone 7, without adding to the thickness of the device.
