Lenovo launches a new line of gaming PCs called Legion, including two laptops

Lenovo announced this morning that it is launching an all-new sub-brand of gaming PCs called Legion. To kick things off, the company showed off two laptops: the Legion Y520 and Y720.

Lenovo Legion Y520

As the model numbers would indicate, the Y520 is the lower end of the two, not that you could reasonably call either of these machines low end. With a 15.6-inch 1080p 16:9 IPS LCD, the Legion Y520 offers up to a seventh-generation Intel Core i7.

As for graphics, you can get it with up to an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti GPU, and it comes in configurations with up to 16GB DDR4 RAM, and up to 512GB SSD or 2TB HD.

The Legion Y520 will be available in February starting at $899.99.

But the real show is in the Y720. This laptop comes with the same 1080p display, or you can get it with a 4K anti-glare screen. Your options of processor include a Core i5-7300HQ or i7-7700HQ, and the graphics are a GeForce GTX 1060 with 6GB GDDR5.

It sports Thunderbolt 3, and it's VR-ready. If you're gaming, Lenovo has you covered in the sound department as well, saying that it's "the world's first Dolby Atmos Windows based PC." The company says that you'll be able to hear the locations of teammates and enemies in three-dimensional space.

The Legion Y720 offers the same storage and RAM configurations as the Y520, and it will be available in April, starting at $1,399.

Lenovo made some other announcements today as well, including a new family of ThinkPad X1 devices and the Miix 720, and some smart home products that include an Amazon Echo-like device.
