Steve Jobs exhibition will take place on Samsung’s home turf

South Korea is Samsung country, but that’s not stopping a local museum in Guri, Gyeongg from staging an honorary exhibition to the late founder of Apple, Steve Jobs.

Featuring a range of Apple computers starting with 1977’s Apple II and running through to the iMac models Jobs oversaw upon his return to the company in the late 1990s, the exhibition will run until November 27.

“There are many products Jobs created that are worth keeping,” Kim Kwon-tae, operator of the Korea Computer Museum, told the Korea JoongAng Daily newspaper.

The exhibition — which is only open to those who book in advance — also offers a range of different, non-Apple computers from around the world. In all, there are around 420 different machines. “I think I spent some 100 million won ($88,120) collecting computers,” Kim said.

Should events like his Steve Jobs exhibit prove successful, Kim hopes that he will soon be able to move his computer museum out of its current warehouse location and into more permanent accommodation.

If, for some reason, you are planning to visit South Korea for an Apple-themed holiday, the Korea Computer Museum isn’t the only place that should be on your list. The country’s Nexon Computer Museum also owns one of a tiny number of Apple I computers that are still fully operational. It was purchased from Sotheby’s on June 15, 2012 for $374,500.

Apple, meanwhile, was recently rumored to be planning a new Apple store — the first in South Korea — directly across the street from Samsung’s headquarters in Seoul, South Korea.

As if the bad news about the Galaxy Note 7 recall wasn’t enough salt in the wound!
