It’s not easy to find MacBook cases that are both protective and good-looking; you usually have to choose between the two. But Gumdrop Cases has hit the nail on the head with its new DropTech case.

It promises to be one of the “world’s most durable MacBook cases,” and it looks like it came straight out of a futuristic sci-fi movie. Or maybe a retro iMac? Claim yours on Kickstarter now to take advantage of big discounts with early bird pricing.

The DropTech case is currently available for the 13-inch MacBook Air, but Gumdrop is planning a new model that will fit the 2017 MacBook Pro (assuming Apple will actually get around to delivering it this year).

[contextly_auto_sidebar] Like any durable case, DropTech adds a bit of extra bulk to your MacBook, but it at least looks good. It’s made out of translucent polycarbonate and colored silicone that combine to absorb impact when your notebook takes a tumble.

The four corners of your MacBook, which are some of the most fragile points on the machine, are each protected by 10mm of durable silicone. This helps prevent your display from shattering, and minimizes the impact on internal components.

You already protect your iPhone with a case, so why not your MacBook, too? They can be just as easy to drop if you’re always on the move, and they’re usually much more expensive to repair. What’s more, if your machine shows signs of damage, Apple can refuse repairs under warranty.

If you think the DropTech case is as cool as we do, pledge your support on Kickstarter today and get yours at a great discount. The first 100 backers will pay just $20 for their case, which will be priced at $69.95 when it goes on general sale.

Assuming DropTech reaches its funding goal of $10,000, the MacBook Air version will begin shipping in November, while the 2017 MacBook Pro model will be available in January.
