Windows 10 got a massive Anniversary update back in August but Microsoft isn't stopping there.

The Redmond firm has just revealed some of the next big changes that will be landing on PCs early next year which include more changes to the Start Menu and a new Night Mode.

The Start Menu is getting a major overhaul, with users able to independently customise their phone's Start screen.

Currently, the Continuum Start Menu mirrors whatever is on your main PC, so if you want to set up independent work and home profiles, this is now much easier.

The update is also set to bring long-awaited 'night mode' similar to those seen on Apple devices.

This will allow shifting the colours in your display to the warmer end of the spectrum during the evening, or at night.

At its Ignite 2016 conference, which is taking place this week, the US tech company also confirmed the updates will bring better features to mobile and smartphone users of Windows 10.

Among the new features is the addition of resizable windows to the Windows 10 Continuum service.

This allows users to connect their smartphone to an exterior monitor, mouse and keyboard to use as a mobile Windows 10 PC.

Windows can also be 'snapped' to one side or place on your screen like they can on a PC, allowing for multiple apps or programs to run at once.

Previously, apps were forced to run full screen, but Microsoft says that the upgrade will now provide a mobile Windows 10 experience that is much more like using your PC.

Users will also now be able to pin apps to their mobile taskbar, and putting your phone on standby or sleep mode will no longer disrupt the connection between devices.

It's currently unclear when these new features will be launched but testing is thought to be well underway.
