"I've a question regarding the security preference to require a password after sleep: I'm pretty certain (although I may be misremembering) that on Mac OS 10.5, the preference only affected the screen saver or when the computer went to sleep but did not affect display-sleep. I like this behavior, because I can leave my laptop idle on my desk and wake up the display with a keystroke, but when I close the lid (putting the CPU to sleep), I will need a password to get back. On Lion, it appears that display sleep now requires a password just like the screen saver and CPU-sleep. If I set a large timeout to allow me to quickly wake it during the day, that large timeout will also apply to when I close the lid. Does anyone know if there is a way, in Lion (perhaps using a CLI preference setting) to enable passwords when waking from CPU sleep but not display sleep? Or failing that, allowing for different timeouts for CPU and display sleep?" MacInTouch 4:31 PM
