Just this, regardless of how many downloads are being done.' Sadly I do not know of a way to recover all of the functionality of the Downloads window we used to have, but I will point out that at least you can check out downloads individually by clicking on that small square. The typical symptom is waking your Mac, checking Mail and having all accounts show errors. Or waking your Mac, checking a web page, and having Safari inform you that you are not connected to the internet. Just this week, I began to wonder if this is a hard drive spinup issue. If I wake my iMac, I see my desktop and open apps in a few seconds. But I can hear the internal drive spinning up, so what I see is coming from RAM. Maybe Lion (and maybe Snow Leopard) can't connect to the internet until the drive is up and running. Maybe the "issue" is just that we can do something even before the internal drive is up and running, just not make an internet connection." MacInTouch 5/12
