  • "I went through the entire 'upgrade' process two weeks ago on a MacBook Pro using Snow Leopard. Everything went flawlessly. I was so pleased that my email continued to work and that my address book synched without a problem from MacBook to iPhone and back. Then a couple of days ago on the MacBook, Mail kept popping up a box that the server rejected my password. Two hours and two online support chats later the problem was solved: I needed to change my password to something that contained at least one upper case letter, one numeric digit, and have at least eight characters. I wish Apple had sent an email TELLING me that this would happen. So, yes, you can upgrade without having Lion. Just be sure your password qualifies under Apple's 'new' rules." MacInTouch 3:26 PM

  • "I was online and the iSight camera photo sound occurred, without any green light. I gave no permission. The only people with access to my laptop are the network people at work. Question: could they be hacking my iSight? I didn't approve its use and the sound was unmistakeable (I took a photo in photo booth just to compare--same thing). Or am I simply being silly & must have hit some button that makes the same sound, triggers the same audio file?" MacInTouch 3:22 PM
