Op/Ed
  • "I'm trying to move my Itunes 10.7 music library to a new, larger, hard disk. I've done this in the past without trouble: copy the files, start Itunes with the option key, select new library, let it organize, and it's done. It's not working now; I don't get the question about organizing the library when I point to the new one. Maybe I was just lucky to have it work the last few times. What's the recommended procedure for moving a large (700GB) music library to a new offboard hard disk? I've been using Data Backup 3 to make a simple copy of my music library folder to the new drive. Start it, let it run overnight. The computer is a Mac Mini with Mac OS X 10.6.8." MacInTouch 4:28 PM
  • "I've found that Quicken (for Lion version) sometimes does not update all the securities listed in my portfolio (including those on the 'watch list'). Usually, simply redoing the command (click the 'quotes' button again) would update all the securities and often would 'pick up' ones that were missed on the first try. Keep in mind that mutual fund values are updated once a day and are typically not available until after 5 PM Eastern time. Earlier checks will return no value. I also found that very thinly traded securities on the Over The Counter (pink sheets) won't update if there were no trades on a particular day. These 'features' were present on earlier versions of Quicken, as I recall." MacInTouch 4:27 PM
