"I have a feeling my issue is unique and probably due to some piece of software I installed. I use a MacBook Pro pre-unibody 15" and OSX 10.8.1. I cannot say for sure when this started. I use 'tap-tap' to start applications and activate it with three presses of the aka apple key. Recently, after two taps a large red target with three or four rings around a bullseye will speed across the screen to highlight the cursor. Can anyone identify the source of this mostly annoying behavior? (Only rarely does it seem potentially helpful!)
